Pondathon II – Announcement post!

Pondathon II: The Quiet Pond’s Story-Driven Readathon. A small spade and watering can are crossed with vines wrapped around it frame the words Pondathon II. Three little forest sprites - one with a leaf on its head, another with twigs on its head like antlers, and a mushroom on the other’s head - sit on the words ‘Pondathon’.

Hello, my friends. I saw posts for the Pondathon last year but was unsure if I should participate. After seeing Dini posting about it though, I took a closer look and even though I’m a bit late – you can still join at any time though – I hope that I will be able to help with the gardening.

What is the Pondathon?

Pondathon II is a story-driven and gardening-themed readathon hosted and run by CW from The Quiet Pond. The aim of the Pondathon II readathon is to read books to earn plants and decorate your own little garden so that we can restore the forest together. More information about the readathon can be found here.

Information about Joining the Pondathon

My Pond Character

Kettu, Tbr fox

My Pond Character is Kettu, a grumpy but reliable fox. He is ready to weed out any evil or unwanted plantlings to protect the Pond even at short notice. While he may seem a bit hostile and other Pond Inhabitants rather give him a wide berth, he is actually a great friend who you can depend on once you get to know him.
He loves reading and jealously guards the tbr but might be persuaded to lend you a book he’s already read if you promise to bring it back in pristine condition. He is ready to help the Pond and will weed and plant to make the Pond a great place to live again.

My Pondathon TBR

I should put a lot of books here and show some books that I definitely wanna read but, let’s be honest, I’m rather bad with tbrs and even with my beloved Possibility Pile. I’m just too much of a mood reader. But if you want, you can take a look at my TBR shelf on Goodreads – it’s named Alice, don’t be confused – and make some suggestions?

Pondathon II Sidequests

The Pondathon II is divided into 16 rounds that are three weeks long, and with each new round there will be a new side quest from a pond companion. You don’t need to do side quests, but you can get a badge or special items if you complete them. (I saw the badge for the last side quest and it’s so cute. I want them.)

The current sidequest is from Gen and it can be completed by reading a book by a black author for Black History month. The quest runs until 19th February 2022, 8:00PM NZT.

I mean, I only have a bit more than a week left but I’m still gonna put some options here.

And that’s a wrap. I’m really excited to be joining the Pondathon and I hope I can read as many books from the tbr as possible. Is the Pondathon something you’d want to join?

  1. Yay, more Pondathon friends! I’m pretty sure that I forgot to do an official announcement post, but I’m playing along with the Pondathon too. I don’t have a Pondathon-specific TBR, though! I’m just reading whatever and counting it whenever it’s applicable to the side quests. (Though the side quests are encouraging me to read books that fit the theme…)

  2. Yay for joining the Pondathon! Kettu is adorable 😍 I’ve read TSIAAS and Tristan Strong from your list of options and I loved both so much. I can’t wait to read Legendborn at some point this year too. Happy reading!
