A glimpse of September // monthly goals, readathons and co

Hello and welcome to a new segment that I call “A glimpse into the future” because I think of myself as a mysterious figure that can interpret the clouds in her crystal ball. And if you have stopped laughing at that mental image now, I can also tell you that it’s just a post I will plan to do at the beginning of the month to put together a tbr or show you what readathon I wanna join and what books I wanna read or other goals I have.

We will see how that will work out.

September Monthly Goals

1- Read as many books off the tbr as humanly possible

First month doing this thing and I already don’t have a proper goal besides reading as many books from my tbr as I possibly can. If you follow me on Goodreads, you might have noticed that I have updated my TBR shelf – lovingly called Alice – lately and now it’s official: There are more than 200 books on my tbr. Seriously. I wanna shake my head in pity and drop dead from embarrassment at the same time. How can I have escalated that much with my book buying habits?

I won’t make an tbr but I made something like a short list, so if you have one of those that I will have to read immediately, let me know. 😉

2- Read the BOTM for the Middle Grade Marvels booclub and stick to the sections

The masses have chosen and they chose Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger as our BOTM! I’m excited since that one has been on my radar for ages. 😀

Twelve-year-old Sophie Foster has a secret. She’s a Telepath—someone who hears the thoughts of everyone around her. It’s a talent she’s never known how to explain. Everything changes the day she meets Fitz, a mysterious boy who appears out of nowhere and also reads minds. She discovers there’s a place she does belong, and that staying with her family will place her in grave danger. In the blink of an eye, Sophie is forced to leave behind everything and start a new life in a place that is vastly different from anything she has ever known. Sophie has new rules to learn and new skills to master, and not everyone is thrilled that she has come “home.”
There are secrets buried deep in Sophie’s memory—secrets about who she really is and why she was hidden among humans—that other people desperately want. Would even kill for.

3- Read Sky Song by Abi Elphinstone as a buddy read

Sammie @ The Bookwyrm’s Den and I are going to read Sky Song together! I’m so excited. I love Abi Elphinstone’s books and writing style (and now I have the opportunity to finally make Sammie read all her books which is a bonus.)

In the snowy kingdom of Erkenwald, whales glide between icebergs, wolves hunt on the tundra and polar bears roam the glaciers. But the people of this land aren’t so easy to find. Because Erkenwald is ruled by a cruel Ice Queen and you must stay hidden or risk becoming another of her prisoners. Join Eska, a girl who breaks free from a cursed music box, and Flint, a boy whose inventions could change the fate of Erkenwald forever, as they journey together in search of an ancient, almost forgotten, song with the power to force the Ice Queen back.

Readathons

Since I already have so much to read anyway and my goal is amazing – please and thank you – I won’t be joining any readathons this month, even though I have noticed how much fun they are.

Happy September, everyone! What are your reading plans for this month?
