Hey, guys!
June was honestly such a weird month. Not because what’s happened in the world – it just had a really detached, unreal feel to it, you know? I had a lot to do, so blogging and social media got a little pushed back but now I’m back at work and hopefully to my routine and everything looks up again.
Okay, what happened was:
♣️ I was on holiday. Which was weird. I mean, it was my first holiday since Christmas and after all these hard weeks with five times the workload during the Corona lockdown, I was glad that I didn’t have to go to work every day. But since there is still a travel ban or at least there was one, we couldn’t go anywhere and the holiday at my boyfriend’s parent’s place, the whole thing felt kinda wasted.
♣️ I got 400 followers on the blog. Honestly, I didn’t think I would ever make it that far. Guys, just so you know, I appretiate every singe one of you and I’m so happy you are here and that you ar interested in what I’m writing and my little blog. You guys are amazing. 🎉🎉🎉
♣️ I joined Scribd. Seriously, I will forever be amazed that things like Scribd exist. I feel a certain sense of wonder. I have found so many books there I want to read. Ooh, I’m so glad twitter introduced me to this.
In case you don’t what Scribd is, it’s basically a online library. You pay a monthly fee for it and you can read all the books they have available. Audiobooks, magazines, books, articles. Sure, they don’t have anything but it’s definitely good for my wallet, especially since I have rediscovered ebooks last month. Also, if you invite somebody to come try it out, you and the friend get a month free. Here’s my link, in case you wanna try. https://www.scribd.com/g/8j9gkw
♣️ I did my driver’s ed theory exam. One of the reasons my holidays were so bleak was that I finally did my theory exams for my driver’s licence and that meant A LOT of studying. Also, I was super nervous. My whole life long I have hated exams, but since my sister was with me, it was a little more bearable. (Li, if you read this, I love you. <3)

While Scribd has definitely helped with my new ebook-haul-addiction, I still have added some books to my little library.

The Land of Roar by Jenny McLachlan
It’s also my current read. It’s beautiful inside and out. There are so many pretty illustrations and the story is so cute.
When Arthur and Rose were little, they were heroes in the Land of Roar, an imaginary world that they found by climbing through the folding bed in their grandad’s attic. Roar was filled with things they loved – dragons, mermaids, ninja wizards and adventure – as well as things that scared them (including a very creepy scarecrow. . .) Now the twins are eleven, Roar is just a memory. But when they help Grandad clean out the attic, Arthur is horrified as Grandad is pulled into the folding bed and vanishes. Is he playing a joke? Or is Roar . . . real?

The Red Casket by Darby Karchut
It’s the sequel to Del Toro Moon. I loved that book and I love the sequel too.
For four hundred years, generations of the Family Del Toro and their battle-savvy warhorses have secretly guarded their corner of Colorado from all things creepy. But when a menacing woman with some wicked witch powers shows up at the Del Toro ranch and demands the return of the Red Casket, twelve year old Matt Del Toro must team up with his best friend Perry—along with the warhorses Rigo and Isabel—to out-wit, out-ride, and out-fight one Viking-size sorceress.

June was a rather good reading month for me. I read 10 books! That’s so great. Okay, most of them were on the shorter side but it counts! Here are the books that I’ve read:

The Demigod Files by Rick Riordan
How do you handle an encounter with Medusa on the New Jersey interstate? What’s the best way to take down a minotaur? Become an expert on everything in Percy’s world with this must-have guide to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

Camp Half-Blood Confidential by Rick Riordan
In response to an awful camp orientation video created by the god Apollo, Percy Jackson and other residents of Camp Half-Blood answer such questions as “What is this place?” and “Do I get to keep the T-shirt?” Newbies can check out the section on the Divine Cabins, read up on Magical Landmarks, and consult the chapter of Training Arenas. But Camp Half-Blood Confidential explores much more than just the buildings and grounds. It includes info that can only be learned from those who live there.

The Willoughbys—Timothy; the twins, Barnaby A and Barnaby B; and their sister, Jane—concoct a diabolical plot to turn themselves into worthy and winsome orphans. Little do they know that Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby, their odious mother and father, have already begun to formulate their own thoroughly despicable plan. Soon a stern nanny, an abandoned baby, a candy magnate and his long-lost son, and even a Swiss postman are pulled into the Willoughby children’s schemes to escape their mother and father and live happily ever after…or something like that.

The Adventure of Johnnie Waverly by Agatha Christie
When little Johnnie Waverly is kidnapped, there is only one man his parents trust with the case—the inimitable Hercule Poirot!

In the maze-like dungeons of Castle Grotteskew, the frightfully insane Professor Erasmus conducts his bizarre experiments on living things. His very first creation has been long forgotten – a small, almost-human creature, known only as Stitch Head. Poor Stitch Head has spent years vying for attention amongst a menagerie of freakish monsters. When a travelling circus ringmaster, Fulbert Freakfinder, promises to make him a star, Stitch Head wonders whether there is another life for him. But first he has to catch the professor’s latest creation – a monstrous three-armed creature that’s just smashed its way to freedom . . .

The Infinite Lives of Maisie Day by Christopher Edge
It’s Maisie’s birthday and she can’t wait to open her presents. She’s hoping for the things she needs to build her own nuclear reactor. But she wakes to an empty house and outside the front door is nothing but a terrifying, all-consuming blackness. Trapped in an ever-shifting reality, Maisie knows that she will have to use the laws of the universe and the love of her family to survive. And even that might not be enough…

The Veiled Lady by Agatha Christie
Frustrated with a lack of challenging cases, Poirot is given an opportunity to flirt with the other side of the law. A young lady, soon to be married, is being blackmailed and pleads for his help. Poirot employs some dubious methods to bring the blackmailer to justice…

A Darkness of Dragons by S.A. Patrick
After playing a forbidden spell-song to save a village from rats, 12-year-old piper Patch Brightwater is thrown in jail. But there he meets Wren – a noble girl under a rat-shaped curse – and together they befriend Barver, a fearsome dracogriff, and set off on a grand adventure filled with sorcerers, dragons, bandits…and one very deadly enemy.

Internat der Bösen Tiere – Die Prüfung by Gina Mayer

The Red Casket by Darby Karchut
For four hundred years, generations of the Family Del Toro and their battle-savvy warhorses have secretly guarded their corner of Colorado from all things creepy. But when a menacing woman with some wicked witch powers shows up at the Del Toro ranch and demands the return of the Red Casket, twelve year old Matt Del Toro must team up with his best friend Perry—along with the warhorses Rigo and Isabel—to out-wit, out-ride, and out-fight one Viking-size sorceress.

I managed one review 😅:

That’s pretty much it. I haven’t really written any other posts, so there is no reason to put anything else here. 😅
How was your June? Did you do anything fun? Come and chat!
I’m so impressed that you’re on time! I am … not … oops? Well. The hero’s always fashionably late, right? *flips hair*
Congrats on 400 followers! You deserve it, and so much more! Hope you enjoyed the vacation, too, even if you couldn’t go anywhere. Hubby and I caved and we’re taking a week at the end of July and just planning on picnicking, hiking, and sitting at home and we’re determined to enjoy just not working for a while. xD
