Readathons for June

Hello, my sweetpeas!

Let me tell you, I was so ready for my holidays this month. Since we couldn’t go and visit the boyfriend’s family we just wanted to stay at home and relax and make some daytrips. I was looking forward to do some hiking. And reading. I was hoping I would get to read so much, which is why I was crazy enough to join TWO readathons this month! 😀

The month is already over though. In the end my holiday just kinda changed into one big study fest. I really did a lot of studying these past weeks and didn’t blog at all. Luckily I also got some reading time in and already did most of the prompts for the two readathons I joined. It’s kinda stupid that I only make a post about it now but what can you do.

First of all I joined the Star Wars Readathon! It is hosted by Charlotte, Somewhere. To compete and complete the challenge you have to choose a character and read the books for that character’s prompts. It seems easy and doable to me.

The characters (and their prompts) are:

A Padwan (like Mace Windu)

  • A book with a purple front cover
  • A book set in a magical world

A Jedi Knight (like Luke Skywalker)

  • A book with a blue front cover
  • A book set in a magical world
  • A book with siblings in it

A Jedi Master (like Yoda)

  • A book with a green front cover
  • A book set in a magical world
  • A book with an old person in it

A Sith (like Darth Vader)

  • A book with a red front cover
  • A book set in a magical world
  • A book with darkness in it

Although I’m not really inclined in any way to join the Dark Side, I will still party (read, I mean read) like a Sith Lady. I have to admit that I had decided to take this one because I have discovered that there are quite a few books with red covers on my tbr.

So. Like I said, I already finished most of my prompts. And with this readathon I’m already done! Yay! 🎉🎉🎉

  • A book with a red front cover

The Red Casket by Darby Karchut

For four hundred years, generations of the Family Del Toro and their battle-savvy warhorses have secretly guarded their corner of Colorado from all things creepy. But when a menacing woman with some wicked witch powers shows up at the Del Toro ranch and demands the return of the Red Casket, twelve year old Matt Del Toro must team up with his best friend Perry—along with the warhorses Rigo and Isabel—to out-wit, out-ride, and out-fight one Viking-size sorceress.

  • A book set in a magical world

A Darkness of Dragons by S.A. Patrick

After playing a forbidden spell-song to save a village from rats, 12-year-old piper Patch Brightwater is thrown in jail. But there he meets Wren – a noble girl under a rat-shaped curse – and together they befriend Barver, a fearsome dracogriff, and set off on a grand adventure filled with sorcerers, dragons, bandits…and one very deadly enemy. From the depths of the Tiviscan dungeons to the highest peak of Gemspar Mountain, this stunning book reminds us of the soaring joy of adventure, the captivating danger of magic, and of the delight of finding friends in unexpected places.

  • A book with darkness in it

The Infinite Lives of Maisie Day by Christopher Edge

It’s Maisie’s birthday and she can’t wait to open her presents. She’s hoping for the things she needs to build her own nuclear reactor. But she wakes to an empty house and outside the front door is nothing but a terrifying, all-consuming blackness. Trapped in an ever-shifting reality, Maisie knows that she will have to use the laws of the universe and the love of her family to survive. And even that might not be enough…

The other readathon I joined is The Olympic Games.

And as it is, I did the test and joined Team Athena!

ATHENA – WARRIOR GODDESS

Athena is the goddess of wisdom, mathematics, strategy, and defensive warfare. She is brilliant, witty, and disciplined. She has a strong sense of fairness and justice, and would never let her enemies walk free. Athena is a companion of heroes and favours those who seek knowledge.

The prompts are:

  • Athena favours those who seek knowledge beyond all. Read a book that is out of your comfort zone.
  • Read a book that features a school.✔️
  • Read the longest book on your TBR.
  • Athena is a favourite among gods and mortals alike. Read a book by your favourite author.✔️
  • After he betrayed her trust, Athena branded Daedalus with a mark that looked like a partridge. Read a book with a bird on the cover.

I already finished some prompts and I hope I can finish at least one other before the end of the month. 🙂

Read a book that features a school

Read a book by your favourite author

Percy Jackson – The demigod files by Rick Riordan

How do you handle an encounter with Medusa on the New Jersey interstate? What’s the best way to take down a minotaur? Become an expert on everything in Percy’s world with this must-have guide to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

Turns out that most of the books that I read don’t really fit the prompts. (And I won’t admit that that is the case because I mistook a pegasus for a bird on the cover. Nope. Never happened.)

Anyway, I’m happy that I have finally finished this post and that I got to read some books so far anyway. I hope to still being able to finish some books. 🙂
