What is your favourite book you’ve read so far this year, and why?

Only one? Nah, Meeghan, I’ll tell you all my favourites of this year, okay?
I positively loved:

  • Boy and Going Solo by Roald Dahl. They are his two biographies and I not only enjoyed reading them, I also feel that I learned quite a bit about life from them.
  • Darkwing by Kenneth Oppel. Love Kenneth Oppel’s books.
  • Pan’s Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro and Cornelia Funke. I’ve never seen the movie but I love Cornelia Funke’s books and the combination of del Toro’s fantasy and her writing was the most perfect mashup ever.
  • A winter’s promise by Christelle Dabos. It’s amazing and it’s new and everbody should read it stat.
  • Wundersmith by Jessica Townsend. It was so lovely and gave me an epic bookhangover afterwards.

What is your favourite book to movie adaptation?

There should be one, shouldn’t there. I really don’t know though. I guess Hunger Games was a gread adaptation but there should be others, right?

Which fictional character do you think would be the most boring to meet in real life?

I’m not sure. Not sure if I ever want to sit in Professor Binns class though. 😉

What is one thing you do to unwind?

I like reading, I like watching videos and lately I’m mostly sitting on the couch in the evening watching my boyfriend play PlayStation after dinner.

If you could pick any author to write fanfiction for Harry Potter, who would you pick?

Cornelia Funke. It would be magical and also a little dark. I bet that would be a great read.

What’s the best book title you’ve ever heard of?

That really depends. I’m getting quite fond of the ones that are really long and descriptive like “The 100-year-old that climbed out of the window and disappeared”. And puns. I love puns.

Who is your OTP?

Funnily enough I don’t have a book OTP really. I’m always seeing where things are going and are mostly happy with what’s happening in the book but I’m not really shipping book characters too much. I have a lot of tv-show and movie OTPs though. 😅

If you could control one element (earth, air, fire or water), which would you choose?

Earth. Definitely earth.

Who is your favourite fictional animal? (i.e., not just dragons, but Kozu from The Last Namsara)

The first thing my brain supplied was Calcifer of “Howl’s moving castle” but Calcifer is not an animal. But Percy Jackson has a black pegasus called Blackjack and a hellhound as big as a rhino called Mrs O’Leary. Those are both pretty cool.

What is your favourite way to treat yourself?

I love to go to the sauna. It’s so relaxing. 😍

If you were stranded on a desert island that mysteriously had a magical bookshelf (as per above):

what genre would it refill itself with, and

They would be full of middlegrade books. I love middlegrade books.

what other three things would you take with you?

Water, a proper knife and a satellite telephone?

That was fun! Here are the 11 new questions that I came up with. I hope you have fun answering them.

What is your favourite book of all time forever and ever and ever?
Bookstore vs library – what do you prefer?
Your favourite book character shows up at your door. What advice would you give him/her?
What’s the oldest book on your shelf?
What’s your favourite ice cream flavour?
What booktitle would best describe your personality? (You can make one up.)
What are the last three books you put on your tbr?
Describe your perfect (maybe already existing) reading nook.
Do you ever research the author of the book you’re reading? If yes, have you found out any interesting details?
What is your remedy for a reading slump?
You find this magical bookcase in an old house down the road that lets you pick a book and transport you into the book’s world for as long as you like. Which book do you pick up first and what would you be doing?

I nominate:

Maggie @ The wispy reader
Ida @ Ida’s bookshelf
Nen & Jen @ Nen and Jen
Kathy @ Books and Munches
and YOU!
