The last ten books tag // Looks like I’m in the blogging game again?

Yeah, I haven’t done any of these in a while. But when I saw it over at Ashmita‘s I thought it looked rather fun and hey, you don’t see much of me anyway, right?

What else can I tell you as an introduction? I haven’t been around lately because I had some shit to work out but I’m doing better and I feel like everything is gonna be alright eventually.

The last books I bought were Kerstin Gier’s Vergiss mein nicht. Kerstin Gier ist one of my favourite German authors and I already finished the book yesterday. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the rest of the series. I really hope that Kerstin Gier will write some books for grownups again because I really enjoy those but I guess she’s more focused on YA now.
Daughter of the Deep is Rick Riordan’s new book and since I’m a massive fan, of course I had to order it. I’m a bit nervous about reading something that has nothing to do with his other books but I know that I like his writing style and I have high hopes for this new book.

You just can’t go wrong with Roald Dahl. At least I cannot. No matter what people say, Roald Dahl will be forever my favourite author and I absolutely adore Fantastic Mr. Fox. Roald Dahl’s stories are always about bullies and how the protagonist overcomes them in a way and I think that’s really delightful.

The last book I gave up on was The Prenup by Lauren Layne. It did sound great in the blurp but I didn’t like the characters so I did not only give up on the book, I even sent it back. There was no reason for me to let it take space on my eReader.

I mean, I have read some of Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. And I have seen the BBC Agatha Christie’s Poirot version – – which is amazing btw – so I already know what happens? Like I said, I have already read some of the book. It’s just that I haven’t finished it, so I guess I can’t say that I read it, even though I know what happens…

Well, obviously, I didn’t really write in the margins. But according to my Kindle notes, The Strangeworld Travel Agency by L.D. Lapinsky is the last book I annotated. (Is that a word?) Which is a funny thing since I haven’t finished this book, if I’m being honest here. I probably should because I quite enjoyed it and I don’t even remember why I put it away.

Does “Buying a signed copy” count? Because otherwise I would have to say no, because that’s a totally different story. The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones is otherwise the last copy that I bought signed. It’s even the pretty Owl Crate version that I really like. I have not read the book yet but I inspected the signature and it’s written in a pretty gold handwriting and I really like it. Now I just have to read it.

You are making me cry here, guys! The last books I lost were lost in the flooding of our cellar in the summer. I can’t really be sure what books were in those boxes exactly, so I have no special list to show for it. I just know what it was quite a box. Technically, I didn’t lose the books because I was careless but because of a natural disaster but still. Lost is lost, isn’t it? Great, now I’m sad.

To continue this from the last point, I should have tons of books to replace. A whole moving box full. But since I don’t really know what was in there I can’t really tell what I would have to replace. Or if I want to.

Isn’t it great to discuss books with your (online) friends? Unfortunately, I don’t have many readers in my friend group or in my family for that matter but Social Media is a genius invention when it comes to being able to talk about books with people that live on the other side of the planet. I had a great discussion about AJ Vanderhorst’s The mostly invisible boy for a tour. Our discussion got so heated that Dave had to reign us in. 😅

I’m currently looking for my copy of Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. Has anybody seen it? I mean, it doesn’t look like on the graphic and I can’t be 100% sure that it was not in the Lost Box but I’m rather covinced it wasn’t which means that I placed it somewhere in my flat and I can’t find it anymore. It’s infuriating. I’m not one to lose books normally. Anybody volunteering to help look for it?
