WWW Wednesday // It’s full of magic

My darlings, I finally found the time to take part in the WWW Wednesday again – which is a weekly meme that I have somehow forgotten about temporarily put to the back of my mind.

Since I’m not actually sure when the last time was I posted one of these, I’ll just give you my the books I’ve read in the last week.

And in case you don’t know about WWW Wednesday:

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Jungledrop by Abi Elphinstone

Eleven-year-old twins, Fox and Fibber, have been rivals for as long as they can remember. Only one of them will inherit the family fortune and so a race is afoot to save the dwindling Petty-Squabble empire and win the love of their parents. But when the twins are whisked off to Jungledrop, a magical Unmapped Kingdom in charge of conjuring our world’s weather, things get wildly out of hand. An evil harpy called Morg is on the loose. And if she finds the long-lost Forever Fern before the twins, both Jungledrop and our world will crumble. Suddenly, Fox and Fibber find themselves on an incredible adventure in a glow-in-the-dark rainforest full of golden panthers, gobblequick trees and enchanted temples. But, with the fate of two worlds in their hands, will the twins be able to work together for once to defeat Morg and her dark magic?

I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for the sequel to Rumblestar to come out and let me tell you what: It was so worth the wait. After the first few pages I was already madly in love and wanting to cry from nostalgia. I really have to pace myself to make this last a little longer because the wait for the next book will be excrutiating.

Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel

Shade is a young Silverwing bat, the runt of his colony. But he is determined to prove himself on the long and dangerous winter migration to Hibernaculum, millions of wingbeats to the south. During a torrential storm, Shade is swept away from his family, his friends, and the only life he has ever known. Alone and frightened as winter fast approaches and temperatures plunge, Shade must make a remarkable journey to rejoin his colony to the south.

A reread of one of my favourite books. Just as good as I remember it.

The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling

Can you ever have too much of your favorite food? John Midas is about to find out….

A small and sweet story about a boy who suddenly turns everything his lips touch into chocolate. That’s not as nice as you might think it is… 😉

City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

Cass can pull back the Veil that separates the living from the dead.
When Cass’s parents start hosting a TV show about the world’s most haunted places, the family heads off to Edinburgh. Here, graveyards, castles and secret passageways teem with restless phantoms.
But when Cass meets a girl who shares her “gift”, she realizes how much she still has to learn about the Veil—and herself. And she’ll have to learn fast. The city of ghosts is more dangerous than she ever imagined.

A reread which I did together with Sammie. It’s just such a great story and I really loved it the second time around as well.

Pages & Co – Tilly and the lost fairytales by Anna James

49014496. sy475

After solving the mystery of Tilly’s mother’s disappearance, the bookwandering community is at risk. An extreme group of Librarians have taken over the British Underlibrary and they want to restrict bookwandering. Tilly and Oskar believe that The Archivists are the key to restoring balance – but nobody has seen them for thousands of years, and most people think they never really existed anyway. Is a journey to the French Underlibrary and a peculiar book of fairytales, the key to discovering their whereabouts?  But wandering into fairytales is dangerous and unpredictable, and the characters aren’t as they seem. Soon, Tilly and Oskar realise that villains don’t just live inside the pages of books. Sometimes, you don’t get to live happily ever after…

After loving the first book of the series, I thought I might give the sequel a try. It’s just the right time to cozy up with a good book.

What are your WWWs? Do you know any of the books on my list?
