Hey, guys!
I’m tired. I’m worried. I’m also incredibly lazy lately which I blame on the weather at the moment. Yeah, let’s stick with that. But I’ll still try to read something sometimes, so I hope that justifies this post. 😉
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Tunnel of Bones by Victoria Schwab

Cassidy Blake (plus her ghost best friend, Jacob, of course) are in Paris, where Cass’s parents are filming their TV show about the world’s most haunted cities. Sure, it’s fun eating croissants and seeing the Eiffel Tower, but there’s true ghostly danger lurking beneath Paris, in the creepy underground Catacombs. When Cass accidentally awakens a frighteningly strong spirit, she must rely on her still-growing skills as a ghosthunter — and turn to friends both old and new to help her unravel a mystery. But time is running out, and the spirit is only growing stronger. And if Cass fails, the force she’s unleashed could haunt the city forever.
It’s a spooky reread for me and a buddy read with Sammie. It’s somehow twice as nice knowing she is experiencing this series for the first time and to discuss it with her.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive. Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was: a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive. Being a Keeper isn’t just dangerous – it’s a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da’s death was hard enough, but now that her little brother is gone too, Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In The Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself may crumble and fall.
I…I just actively realized that both books are by the same author. I didn’t even think of it. I just wanted to read something spooky. Oops. Well, but this just establishes that I prefer it when Schwab tells stories that are rooted in our world rather than being thrown into something entierly new.

Eleven-year-old twins, Fox and Fibber, have been rivals for as long as they can remember. Only one of them will inherit the family fortune and so a race is afoot to save the dwindling Petty-Squabble empire and win the love of their parents. But when the twins are whisked off to Jungledrop, a magical Unmapped Kingdom in charge of conjuring our world’s weather, things get wildly out of hand. An evil harpy called Morg is on the loose. And if she finds the long-lost Forever Fern before the twins, both Jungledrop and our world will crumble. Suddenly, Fox and Fibber find themselves on an incredible adventure in a glow-in-the-dark rainforest full of golden panthers, gobblequick trees and enchanted temples. But, with the fate of two worlds in their hands, will the twins be able to work together for once to defeat Morg and her dark magic?
….. you know what? No. No, I’m not gonna shout to you about this book today. I’m too tired. And I don’t know if I would find adequate words anyway. I loved it so much. And I knew beforehand that I would love it and I did and that makes it even better. So, no shouting today. But soon.
Sad Cypress by Agatha Christie

Beautiful young Elinor Carlisle stood serenely in the dock, accused of the murder of Mary Gerrard, her rival in love. The evidence was damning: only Elinor had the motive, the opportunity and the means to administer the fatal poison.Yet, inside the hostile courtroom, only one man still presumed Elinor was innocent until proven guilty: Hercule Poirot was all that stood between Elinor and the gallows…
Another buddyread! Which makes those books even more special to me. They are pretty much the only crime novels I read at the moment and still I cannot figure out whodunnit. Anyway. I’m also thinking about doing a new segment about Agatha Christie books? Would you be interested in that?
What have you been up to this week? What have you been reading? I would also be very happy if you would vote on the poll!
I would be interested in a segment like that. The poll isn’t working, but I am voting for And then there were…mysteries!
It doesn’t work? Oh, no! I tried and it seemed to be fine. But I put your vote in. Thanks for taking time to do that. I’m really curious about the whole thing. 🙂
Ooo…an Agatha Christie read. I haven’t read one of her books in ages but I did love them. Wonderful reads this week!
Yeah, I really have to start it now because I think my buddy is gonna be done with it before I even started. 😛
Jungledrop is so so good! I’m so looking forward to The Crackledawn Dragon!
Me too! But I will be so sad when that series is over.
Totally agree – such a wonderful series!
I love The Archived!! but the second book is a thousand times better, so I hope you enjoy it and decide to continue with the story 🥰✨
Yeah, I didn’t get around to the Unbound when I read it the first time but this time I really wanna go around. 🙂
